How I Became An Energy Sound Therapist![]() A few years ago, I began to realize that I physically could not continue working for another twenty plus years building stage sets as a technical director for the Chicago theater community. I asked the universe, the powers that be, spirit, what is it that I am meant to be doing other than a stage carpenter? To my surprise the answer came loud and clear. The fog cleared and a new path was revealed to me. I was to be a healer. As soon as this thought popped into my consciousness it felt right and true butI still had a question of what kind? At the time I was visiting an acupuncture clinic, I began talking with the interns about schooling in TCM. I could totally envision myself treating others this way. I soon found myself enrolling in classes and learning the ancient ways of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am still taking classes and have a few years left to go. I think it is the hardest task that I've ever undertaken. This is where I learned about how emotions can have an affect on the physical body as well as the mind and soul. According to traditional medicine emotions are the root cause of all illnesses. Unprocessed emotions get stored in the body and if they build up before they get released they can manifest as physical illness. ![]() This is how I was introduced to this wonderful modality of sound therapy. A friend shared a story with me about her daughter. She was severely depressed after a break up. She just couldn't get out of the funk. Months had gone by and her school grades began to be affected. It was recommend that she visit Rediscover Yourself, Int for a session of emotional sound therapy. After just one treatment, everything turned around for her. The emotions that were weighing her down were no longer there. She was free of them. She still had the memories of her ex but the feelings of anger, betrayal and resentment were now detached from the memories. Her grades shot backup. Her social life improved. She was back to her old self. I was so impressed by her story that I had to experience this modality for myself. I traveled up to Wisconsin to have a session with Steve Vincent of Rediscover Yourself. Steve used non-force kinesiology (muscle testing) to help determine which emotion to target. We decided to work on abandonment issues. I thought this would be tied to issues I have regarding my ex-wife. What Steve helped discover is that the abandonment issues go back much further, all the way back to my childhood. Probably from when my parents split-up when I was six or seven. This issue was like a little rain cloud that had been following me around my entire life. I didn't even realize it was there dripping down on my relationships subtly influencing me. ![]() Steve determined with the aid of the non-force kinesiology testing what exact sound frequency would disrupt the stored emotion and where my body was storing this old baggage. He placed a couple small speakers near my lumbar region, for this is where I was storing this particular piece of emotional baggage. He pressed play on the computer and during the session (mine lasted close to 90 minutes) I felt some physical releases happen while I was on the table. Now I am told that this is not always the case but sometimes the emotions are so built up that they do manifest into physical ailments. I had suffered from chronic low back pain for years and as a side affect to the treatment about 90% of my chronic back pain was gone. Now that was a heavy duty emotional release. For months after my treatment, I could not stop thinking about all the good the Rediscover Yourself team is doing for people in the Green Bay area. I felt drawn to the work they are doing. It felt right to me that I needed to do this to. I decided to reach out to them and ask to be trained in this Energy Sound Therapy modality. Which brings us to today. I've brought this modernized version of Sound Therapy to the Chicago-land area, I split my time between offices in Chicago and St. Charles helping people from all walks of life. This is no temporary feel good experience from a sound bath with singing bowls, gongs and tuning forks. This is next level therapy with lasting effects, some even say the releasing of the trapped emotion is permanent. |
